Who is trying to promote change in New Mexico?
Several groups and individuals are attempting to remedy the dearth of renewables options in New Mexico. In an effort to blend consumer and environmental protection, the Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy was formed in 1997, bringing together eight environmental and public interest groups, including NMSEA, to promote clean energy interests in the restructuring of New Mexico's electric utility industry.
One of the Coalition members, New
Mexico Public Interest Research Group, has been very active in
energy-related pollution issues and promoting renewable energy development. For
example, see their report Re-Energizing
How New Mexico Can Move Toward Reliable, Clean and Affordable Energy.
All together these organizations comprise over ten thousand members who live in New Mexico. These groups are now actively working together to bring renewables to the table.
