URGE CONGRESS TO EXTEND THE RENEWABLE ENERGY TAX CREDIT !!!
Your help is urgently needed in the final push to extend renewable
energy investment tax credits before they expire in less than seven
Within the next day or two the U.S. Senate is set to discuss HR 6049,
the Energy Tax Extenders bill. This bill provides for the most
important attributes for renewable energy tax credits to be extended:
solar installations, wind farms, energy efficiency buildings, and other
Two solar items of note are that the:
* Commercial Solar Investment Tax Credit (Section 48) would be
extended to 8 years (more than the 6 years previously suggested)
* Groups are working now to eliminate the $2000 cap on residential
Let your members of Congress - both House and Senate - know that you
want support for domestic, renewable energy sources to be a priority!
* Not extending solar credits is an enormous tax increase that will
cost American jobs.
* ASES reports that we can create up to 40 million green-collar jobs
by 2030, but Congress must lead for this to happen.
* The 8-year extension of the Investment Tax Credit is critical for
utilities to get the financing necessary to keep pace with rising
demand for energy.
* The cap on the residential investment tax credit needs to be
removed to provide the incentives needed to properly stimulate the
Congress needs to find a way to extend the renewable energy tax credit
to move us toward energy security and local green-collar jobs.
Please contact your leaders in Congress and let your voice be heard.
Find Phone Numbers
for their District offices, then forward this email to your colleagues,
friends, and others who support solar to urge them to do the same.
Thank you sincerely!

SOLAR SANTA FE -- CITY SUPPORTS SOLAR ELECTRIC, HEATING AND EFFICIENCY
Opportunity for Citizen Involvement!
The Solar Santa Fe program, (which allows the City of Santa Fe to use
municipal bond money to offer long term low interest loans to Santa Fe
residents to offset costs when purchasing solar electric, solar heating,
and efficiency measures), passed with a proposed $1 million dollar budget!
Wild Earth Guardians is hoping to duplicate this effort in Albuquerque,
using Santa Fe as a model. Santa Fe residents are encouraged to sign up
on WE's waiting list to demonstrate need for these loans, in order to
justify future budget allocations for similar programs.
Please respond to Wild Earth with information or interest in hosting (or
collaborating with other organizations) events where attendees could
learn about this program, sign up on the waiting list, and to identify
technological capital present in the RE sector of Santa Fe.
Suggestions on how to build a list of interested Santa Fe parties would
also be very much appreciated.
Please contact Wild Earth for letters of support or to receive a fact
sheet about the program.
